Types of Care

Our expertise is in providing bespoke, tailored care to meet the needs of each individual.

Our extremely high standards are achieved through the presence of a warm and compassionate, yet highly skilled, team of carers.

All of our team members believe in and adhere to our ethos of providing the highest quality of care, therefore improving the quality of life for our community.

We focus our care around the individual, personalising care plans and pathways to meet the medical, emotional and social needs of each of our residents. In doing this, we work closely with our residents and their families so that the plans evolve to meet changing needs and ensure flexible care throughout our care home.

Residential Care

We offer residential care at Casterbridge Lodge. Although different in their approaches, both offerings are informed by the highest level of personal care, as well as comfort and quality of accommodation.

Residential care

Our residential care is tailored to elderly people who require the accommodation, social activities and support offered by a care home, without needing medical care from qualified staff. Of course, medical care can be provided as and when it is required, and routine appointments and emergency care are offered as standard.

Dementia care

Dementia care is a highly specialised area that needs to be tailored to each individual’s needs. We pride ourselves on the level of personalised care that we offer to those residents dealing with the challenges of dementia, offering them a warm and safe environment that allows for reassurance and support. Our dementia care is focused very much on building up the individual’s sense of identity, making regular use of things that will inspire a sense of ease, from memory boxes to photos to familiar pieces of furniture.

We offer person-centred care that focuses on each individual’s abilities, requirements, preferences, likes, and dislikes rather than on the illness itself. By collaborating with the residents themselves, as well as their families and current carers, we are able to create an environment that nurtures a sense of identity. Of course, we regularly review individual care plans to meet the ongoing needs and requirements of each resident, whether emotional, physical, or medical.

All of our team members have received, and continue to receive, specialist training in dementia care. This ensures a consistently respectful and caring approach.

Continuing care

As part of the NHS Continuing Healthcare scheme, some of the residents in our care homes have their healthcare and personal care costs taken care of. This is without having to rely on any of their other assets, such as their savings or their home.

Casterbridge Lodge is fully equipped to offer everything that is needed for those requiring and eligible for continuing care. We have a highly trained, multidisciplinary team that can cater to all of our residents’ needs. Please visit the Age UK website, or speak to our manager at Casterbridge Lodge, to find out more about the NHS Continuing Healthcare Scheme.

Palliative care

Providing physical and emotional support during the final days of terminal illness is something we take very seriously indeed. For both the individuals themselves, as well as their families, it is our aim to provide the best in compassionate, palliative care, from the earliest stages of the illness through to the end of their lives. Through our carefully tailored palliative care, residents are able to stay in a supportive and familiar environment, right here in the place they’ve come to call home, rather than having to transfer to a hospital or hospice.

We offer a multi-disciplinary approach to palliative care here at Casterbridge Lodge. In doing so, we focus on relieving symptoms and pain, making our residents as comfortable as possible, whilst at the same time offering the emotional (and, in some cases, spiritual) support that they may need. This is, of course, extended to the individual’s loved ones, ensuring that the best quality of life and support is made available at all times.

Respite & Day Care

Our day care programmes have been put together to help people maintain their independence or stay in their own home, while also getting the most from the care, social interaction, healthy meals and other facilities that we provide at Casterbridge Lodge.

Because we know that caring for a loved one can be mentally and physically demanding, we have ensured that our day care also enables families and carers to get some much needed time on their own, knowing that their loved ones are in a caring and safe environment.

Our day care services are often used as a way to preserve links with the community, try new things, as a method of recovery from a medical situation, or simply as a way of avoiding social isolation. We offer the usual benefits of a care home environment, but without the residential aspect. However, those that attend Casterbridge Lodge as part of our day care programme are guaranteed the same standards of care and attention as any of our long-stay residents.

Providing the care and unwavering support needed to help the vulnerable remain in the comfort of the own home. Offering physical, emotional, and practical support building self-esteem and improve quality of life.

Casterbridge Manor is set in the picturesque village of Cerne Abbas near Dorchester, offering the highest standard in residential, nursing and specialist dementia care in a warm, safe and friendly care home environment.
